Emotional

So for some reason today has been a wierd day for me. Im not sure why I get stressed over silly things and why stress makes me emotional- maybe its cuz i didnt have my morning walk!!!
So today at 10:15 we decided that we were going to go to story time at the library so I was scrambling around to find all of our shoes, get the kids hair done, and make sure they had all gone potty. We made it to the library just in time and sat down to enjoy the songs and stories. The kids were being so good and I was feeling relieved that i wasnt having to wrestle Grayden to make him hold still for once. At the end of story time Jeanette(librarian) got out these cool little busses and truck for the kids to play inside of. I heard someone start to cry so I looked down and G was on this other little boy. The mom of the other boy threw G off of her son and I noticed G had bit the boys leg. I felt horrible and I was very apologetic and the lady grabbed her son and ran out the door. As I was skolding Grayden(no excuses but the poor kid is teething) I was watching her leave and she is just bawling and telling another lady outside what happened. I felt so stupid and so awefull that i started to cry also. A few friends at the library were telling me its ok, dont worry about it he didnt know and hes just a kid, yadee yadee yadee. Jeanette(librarian)was also trying to make things better and we were joking how brave I was to bring 4 kids to the library and how they all acted better than this other lady with only 1 child. I started to gather the kids to leave and noticed that my sweet leecy lou had wet her pants all over the carpet. Of course I started to cry again. But this time I was able to laugh because it was just icing on the cake. So here is a cute little story that my dad sent me that you other moms may appreciate.

JUST A MOM?

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office,
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

'What I mean is,' explained the recorder, 'do you have a job or are you just a ?'

'Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman.

'I'm a Mom.'

'We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it,' Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own

Town Hall. The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high

sounding title like, 'Official Interrogator' or 'Town Registrar.'

'What is your occupation?' she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know. The words simply popped out.
'I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations.'

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest, 'just what you do in your field?'

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, 'I have a continuing program

of research, (what mother doesn't) In the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said

indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already

have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the umanities,
(any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a

satisfaction rather than just money.'

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up,

and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to

mankind than 'just another Mom.'

Motherhood!

What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make Grandmothers
'Senior Research associates in the field of Child
Development and Human Relations'

And Great Grandmothers
'Executive Senior Research Associates?'

I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts '
Associate Research Assistants.'
May your troubles be less,
Your blessing be more,
And nothing, but happiness comes through your door!
AMEN!!

STORY TIME-part 1: we were driving to pick up Ryan from school and I had told Ali earlier how she has become a scary driver like all the other people in Philly (fast, tailriding, jerky, cutting in etc). Then she was bragging to pig(who was co pilot) that she was getting good at running yellow lights today. Right when she finishes saying this she gets pulled over!

Luckily she only got a warning for completely running a RED light!

STORY TIME-part 2: Later that day we were all in the car driving to Pittsburg to see Webbs and all of a sudden we here another sirin go off. (pig is not a very good co-pilot)

Ryan was not as lucky as Ali and got a pretty hefty ticket!
